Best bars and pubs in Aarhus....

Café Drudenfuss

Café Drudenfuss is the perfect place to take a step back from life's hurry and take a breath. This morning café specializes in breakfast, brunch, and lunch foods. You can order anything from tapas to sandwiches to empanadas. There are also some great little shops in the area, so take some time to enjoy the Studsgade Street area.

Café Grene

As you wonder through Søstrene Grene, you will see goods from all over the world in this marketplace. Upstairs you will find a friendly little café where you can order exquisite pastries. The chef specializes in organic entrées from all over the world. You can also purchase foodstuffs from all over the world in this café.

Café Jorden

Café Jorden is a fun and friendly Århus café. The bar menu includes a variety of open-faced sandwiches, salads, burgers, and great breads! The burgers are served with potatoes and green beans. The salad is made with apricots, a variety of lettuces, potatoes, almonds, Brie, and the peppercorn ranch dressing and is definitely worth a try. On the weekends, the upstairs turns into a disco club!


Café Kindrødt

Café Kindrødt is exactly what you expect from a café and more. For reasonable prices, you can dine on salads, pastas, sandwiches, and tapas while you enjoy a glass of wine or a pint of beer along with it. You will usually find that this café is crowded with locals, and it is especially popular around lunchtime. Most of the seating is outdoors, so you're best bet is to go during nice weather. The chili con carne is a specialty.


Café Under Masken

The Café Under Masken is a very well known and liked café in the area, especially with the artists of Århus. The walls inside are adorned with some original artwork of Han Krull, a well-known Denmark artist and partial owner of the café. He also visits the café on Sundays to do sketches of the customers there. You have to keep your eyes open for this one because the entrance is a few steps below the sidewalk.

Café Viggo

The dark wooden bar helps to create an air of sophistication and history around this café. Café Viggo is always crowded, with tourists and locals alike. It's also popular with those who are looking for a good meal with quick turn-around time and those who are looking for a place to relax with a cappuccino. Whether you are here enjoying breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you are sure to love the view of the canal from the café. Outside dining is also available.

Englen Café

The Englen, meaning "The Angel," is a café off the beaten path where you can get reasonably priced café food or some of the town's hottest drinks. The White Russian currently the most popular. The charming outdoor area is often filled with music, so you may find yourself serenaded as you dine.

General Rye Bar and Bodega

This little café was named for a General who lost battles, instead of a great war hero! Even the street is named after him! The café has typical bar food - mostly tapas, sandwiches, and other light fare. The locals flock to the General Rye Bar and this is a perfect place to people watch while you enjoy a light meal!


L'Estragon

Allow L'Estragon to charm you with its atmosphere and culinary delights. An air of classic French romance is enhanced by candles on the tables inside. You can also choose to dine outside in the gentle summer breezes. This small, intimate restaurant features Southern French cuisine, and you can choose from the dinner menu or a more fancy "gourmet" dinner menu. Thus far, this restaurant remains undiscovered by many tourists, so you will dine mostly amidst locals at this French jewel. No reservations.


The Royal Oak

At The Royal Oak Café, you can enjoy appetizers, pasta, and great beer while sitting either inside or outside. The upstairs dining area is more formal, while the downstairs is relaxed and lots of fun! You should look for a seat that has the best view of the Århus River. The multiple plants and chandeliers create an atmosphere unique to the Royal Oak Café and you may find yourself wanting to return!

go and learn the definition of "PUB" under masken yeah ok but the rest are wine bars/cafe/resturaunts if you gonna do a best pub guide then where are Sherlock holmes, Golden Lion, Tir Na Nog, Waxies, Billabong, Flintstones, george washinton, bridgewater, the kline beirstube,or any af the many verthusets.Change the title!!!!!

I agree with the 'definition of pub' post! If you are looking for cafe's, then the above list is ok.

If you want some real pubs, definitely look for Tir Na Nog, Sherlocks or the Golden Lion.

Tir Na Nog in particular is a fantastic place! Decently priced, with a real pub atmosphere which in my opinion, can't be rivaled by any of the other bars in town. They're also open until 3am every night of the week - very unique to Smallville Aarhus!
